What It Is

Joints, muscles, and the way you load them.

Orthopedic therapy is the musculoskeletal half of this practice: bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons, and the mechanics that decide how much stress each of them takes. Post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, and the chronic aches that never quite resolved all live here.

The difference is where we start. Most clinics start at the painful part. We start with an evaluation that asks why that part is taking the load in the first place, because the knee is usually paying for the hip, and the shoulder is usually paying for the mid back.

Every visit is a full hour, one-on-one with a doctor. No rotating between a tech and a table, no starting over with someone new who has to read your notes.

What It Helps

Where orthopedic therapy does its best work.

If it has hurt for months and rest has not touched it, this is the place to start.

What A Session Looks Like

Three steps, one visit.

1

We find out what is actually causing it.

2

Hands-on treatment starts the same day.

3

You leave with a plan that has an endpoint.

Why It Works

Four reasons it works when other things have not.

Left alone, the joint above and the joint below start taking the load, and you end up treating three problems instead of one.

A full hour, one-on-one with a doctor.

Cause-first, so the fix holds.

Hands-on and exercise, not one or the other.

A plan with an endpoint, not endless visits.

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking orthopedic therapy.

No. Michigan allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book and start without seeing a physician first. If you carry a BCBS of Michigan Traditional Plan or Medicare Part B, your plan may still want a referral on file for coverage, and we will tell you that before your first visit.

Often, yes. Conservative treatment is effective for a lot of the things surgery gets suggested for, including rotator cuff problems, meniscus irritation and degenerative joint pain. And when surgery is the right call, arriving stronger measurably improves how the recovery goes.

Simple problems often settle in 4 to 6 weeks. A typical plan runs 6 to 12 weeks through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent. Post-surgical recovery runs longer, usually 3 to 6 months. You get the estimate at your evaluation, not three visits in.
