Dr. Kelly Ruther

PT, DPT, FMT

Founder, Physical Therapist

I grew up in Holland, Michigan, and earned my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science and Psychology at Hope College. I then went on to Midwestern University in Arizona, where I earned my doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Following my doctorate, I have gained continued education in pelvic floor, postural restoration, functional movement, postpartum corrective exercise, and dry needling. I have been practicing physical therapy for 9 years. I worked at another clinic for 5 years, treating orthopedics and pelvic floor, before starting my own practice.

What do you do for the company:

I specialize in orthopedics and getting to the root cause of complex issues. I love and thrive on complicated cases that others can’t figure out—putting together the many puzzle pieces of pain points and finding the primary root cause. I specialize in pelvic floor, pregnancy, and postpartum care. I have additional certifications in postural restoration and dry needling. I train our employees, treat patients, and perform community educational events.

Something patients have to deal with that you want to fix:

I want to fix the frustrating experience of patients being told their pain is “in their head” or that they should just give up activities when providers can’t figure out what’s causing their pain. Too often, healthcare providers don’t listen to patients or tell them it’s something they have to live with when they simply can’t figure it out. I’m passionate about addressing situations where people are told “it’s a normal part of aging” when it doesn’t have to be, or when pain is blamed on weight when that’s not the actual cause. I believe in solving the puzzle rather than blaming the patient.

Conditions You Enjoy Treating:

I love treating complex cases where multiple symptoms are connected to one root cause. I don’t focus on just one part of the body because everything is interconnected!

What do you like about working here:

What motivated me to start my own practice was being tired of working in a clinic that wanted me to treat patients without looking at the body as a whole. Having the time, energy, and mental capacity to get to the root cause and give patients the care they need and deserve drives me every day. The ability to provide proper scheduling and 1-on-1 care is vital in getting patients lasting results.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working:

I love road biking, golfing, spending time with my son and husband, hiking, and gardening. I also enjoy having different creative outlets, whether it’s drawing, pottery, or sewing my own clothes.

Kelly is a wonderful, caring doctor. I can’t tell you how much she has helped me with issues ranging from jaw to foot and literally everything in between. Her knowledge of how everything in the body is connected has saved me on many occasions. I’ve had back problems for 25 years and have gone to 6 other PT’s over those years. Kelly is the only one who has helped me decrease my pain and increase my fun in life. SO thankful I found her!

Kelly is a miracle worker! She truly is a unicorn and not a typical physical therapist. Kelly works to understand the root cause and how your whole body works to address your issue. She’s helped me tremendously to work through acute issues, but also with understanding how to address smaller things on my own. I’ve referred so many family members and friends, and she’s helped them all. You can’t go wrong with Kelly or anyone she has working with her.

Kelly is the best! I’ve been to several physical therapists, and nobody has the diagnostic skills, understanding of the body, and ability to correct the problem like Kelly does.
