OTD, OTRL

Pelvic Floor Therapist

I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I received my bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy at Grand Valley State University. I worked full time as a recreational therapist for children and adults prior to attending occupational therapy school. I received my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Huntington University. Following graduation, I specialized in pediatrics for 5 years. Within the last year and a half, I wanted to dive deeper into orthopedics and women’s health, as these areas are also a passion of mine. I am able to incorporate both of these passions into my work today.

My credentials are OTD, OTRL. I acquired advanced training in dry needling, pelvic floor health, and in the Postural Restoration Institute to be able to do my current job successfully. I also have previous experience in neurorehabilitation, sensory processing, ergonomics, and trauma-informed care.

The Diary of a CEO

What do you do for the company:

I provide a unique perspective as an occupational therapist, taking in not just the physical challenges of a patient, but also their emotional, psychological, and spiritual state of well-being. I also provide neurosensory experience to the clinic.

Something patients have to deal with that you want to fix:

The broader healthcare system’s focus on quick fixes rather than holistic, patient-centered care. Patients benefit from being treated as whole people with individual goals and challenges, not just a diagnosis to be managed.

Conditions You Enjoy Treating:

Knee pain, low back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction

What do you like about working here:

The ability to address root causes to someone’s challenges, and being able to work with patients in a collaborative effort to meet their goals. Ruther Health + Wellness provides an inviting culture to promote team collaboration and excellent patient care.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working:

I enjoy spending time with my husband, my family, and friends. My husband and I love to travel and experience new cities, landscapes, and cultures. I enjoy spending time with my two cats, Judge and Jynx. I enjoy landscaping, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family at Houghton Lake in northern Michigan.

I can’t begin to thank Dr. Kelly and Dr. Marissa enough! I saw Dr. Kelly through my pregnancy and completely give credit to her that my labor was so smooth! I saw both doctors postpartum. I can’t stress enough how important it is to see them through pregnancy and beyond. I am able to move pain free, and have none of the typical symptoms women experience post baby! Thank you so much for your knowledge and viewing the body as a whole, not just segments!! Moms, moms to be, and anyone struggling with pain, do yourself a favor and make the appointment!

I have been seeing Dr. Kelly & Dr. Marissa for about 3 months and the progress in that time has been incredible! Their ability to look & treat the whole person has been a complete change in my ability to make it through the day without issues. They are both filled with so much joy and knowledge. Highly recommend!
