Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the pain down.
Hands-on work on the jaw muscles and the joint itself, plus the neck, so the whole system stops guarding.
What We Treat
Jaw pain gets blamed on teeth or written off as stress. The joint, the muscles around it and the way you hold your head all get an evaluation here.

Why It Happens
The temporomandibular joint is a joint like any other, with muscles, ligaments and a movement pattern that can go wrong. Clenching, an uneven bite, neck tension and stress all load it. When that load outlasts the tissue, you get clicking, aching, and a jaw that stops opening cleanly.
A night guard protects your teeth. It does not retrain the joint or release the muscles pulling on it. A cause-first evaluation looks at the jaw, the neck and how you hold your head, because those three are one system, and treating only one of them is why it keeps coming back.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like for TMJ and TMD.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on work on the jaw muscles and the joint itself, plus the neck, so the whole system stops guarding.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Restore a clean, symmetrical opening and retrain the movement pattern the joint has been avoiding.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Build control so the jaw tolerates a normal meal, a long conversation and a stressful week.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Managing the clenching, the posture and the stress response that loads this joint in the first place.
Most people who come here have already been somewhere else. The difference is not effort, it is the evaluation: we look for what is causing it, then build a plan with an endpoint.

Questions, Answered
TMJ is the joint itself, the temporomandibular joint. TMD is dysfunction in that joint, the muscles around it, or the nerves that serve it. Most people who say they have TMJ mean TMD, and that is the part we treat.
A night guard is genuinely useful, because it protects your teeth from the force of grinding. What it does not do is change why you are clenching or retrain how the joint moves. The two work well together, and most of our patients keep wearing theirs.
Sometimes, and only with your consent. Some of the muscles that drive jaw pain are only reachable from the inside. We explain it first, we do it with gloves, and if you would rather we did not, we work externally and tell you honestly what that changes.
